Rabbit Hill Road Bridge Reconstruction to begin in January 2012
The bridge carrying Rabbit Hill Road over Big Bear Brook in West Windsor will be closed for reconstruction beginning on or about January 3, 2012. Mercer County estimates that the project will take approximately 120 days, weather permitting.
The work to be performed includes the demolition and removal of the existing bridge and construction of a new bridge in the same alignment. The overall length of the new structure will be approximately 35 feet, 7 inches and the proposed structure will have two 12-foot-wide lanes, two 6-foot-wide shoulders, and a 6-foot-wide sidewalk on one side.
During construction, the detour route will be Rabbit Hill Road to Route 571 (Princeton-Hightstown Road), Route 571 to Southfield Road, Southfield Road to Cranbury Neck Road, and Cranbury Neck Road to Rabbit Hill Road.
The cost of the project will be $1,288,050.60, and the winning bidder was Colonnelli Brothers Construction. The reconstruction will be funded through a grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation Division of Local Aid and Economic Development.
