The Department of Public Safety is headed by the Mayor and includes the Fire and Emergency Services Division, Volunteer Fire Division, Volunteer Emergency Medical Services Division, the Office of Emergency Management and the Police Division.

Fire and Emergency Services Division
The Division of Fire and Emergency Services is responsible for daytime response to fire, medical and rescue emergencies, hazardous materials preparedness and response, fire prevention and safety education, and fire safety code enforcement. The Division of Fire and Emergency Services also provides training and technical support services to the volunteer fire companies and first aid squad.

Office of Emergency Management
The Office of Emergency Management, established in accordance with state statute, is responsible for the planning, coordinating, directing and control of all emergency management operations. Specific activities include community hazard analysis, corporate emergency planning and preparedness and readiness planning, All Township Departments and Divisions are required to assist and cooperate with the Office of Emergency Management when incidents occur.

Police Division
The Police Division, headed by the Chief of Police, is responsible for law enforcement and related public safety programs. Specific bureaus or divisions include Administration, Communications, Community Policing, Detective, Patrol and Traffic. The Police Division also oversees Animal Control.
