West Windsor Targets Illegal Signs
Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh announced that, due to the proliferation of illegal signs being placed along various roads within the Township by area businesses and/or local organizations, the West Windsor Department of Public Works has been directed to remove any and all illegal signs located in the public right-of-way during the course of day-to-day operations. “This short-term strategy should allow the Township to address the immediate problem of illegal signage throughout the Township.” according to Hsueh.
The Mayor has also forwarded copies of the existing sign regulations to Township Council for review and discussion during the summer months. “A longer term solution to the illegal signage issue will ultimately require changes to existing Township Code and a stronger emphasis on public education and enforcement by various Township Departments. An open and constructive dialogue with Township Council, residents, and local business owners is needed to ensure that any changes are fair and consistent.” said Mayor Hsueh.
The Mayor acknowledged newly appointed Council Member Barbara Pfeiffer for discussing the illegal signage issue with him during her first few weeks as a Council Member. “I look forward to working with Barbara, and Council Members Gambatese, Geevers, Kleinman and Morgan to address this quality of life issue.” said Hsueh.
