West Windsor Township Receives State Grants Totaling $725,000
West Windsor, N.J. -- West Windsor Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh announced today that the Township has received grants in the amount of $725,000.00 from the State of New Jersey.
The township was awarded $225,000 from the Department of Transportation’s Fiscal Year 2010 Municipal Aid Program while receiving $500,000 from the Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Acres fund.
The letter from NJDOT Commissioner Stephen Dilts states that each year the program becomes more popular and competitive statewide. Annually, they provide $78.75 million in aid but this year, under Governor Corzine’s leadership, they had and additional $25 million. West Windsor sought the grant funds for the Village Road Phase I Improvements.
The $500,000 from the Department of Environmental Protection was an amended increase to a previously obtained grant of $4,950,000 received back in 2000, bringing the total of the DEP grant to $5,450,000.
Mayor Hsueh stated, “These grants are an example of the ongoing cooperation between the Township and the State for the improvement of our local transportation network as well as our need to preserve open space. We will continue to participate in all available programs to improve and protect West Windsor.”
