PUBLIC ACCESS TO RECORDS - OPEN PUBLIC RECORDS ACT
The New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA), effective July 8, 2002, affords individuals greater access to government records for both inspection and duplication. The public has access to government records, except those documents which fall under the defined exclusions. The Municipal Clerk has been designated as the official Custodian of Records. With the completion of the "Request for Public Records" form and delivered to the Municipal Clerk, access to most documents can be attained. Contact the Police Division directly for requests for law enforcement documents. For more information regarding the Open Public Records Act, access the Government Records Council at www.nj.gov/grc.
