What is the Lifecycle of a Permit? 

  1. Application is reviewed by technical assistant for completeness,
  2. If incomplete, applicant is advised of deficiencies.
  3. If complete, application is entered into computer system and forwarded to subcode official(s) for review.
  4. During the review process, applicant is advised of application status at applicant’s request.
  5. Subcode official(s) review application and/or plans for code compliance.
  6. If application and/or plans do not meet code, applicant is advised in writing of each code violation.
  7. Resubmitted application is reviewed for completeness.
  8. If incomplete, applicant is advised of deficiencies (i.e. letter referencing changes)
  9. If complete, revised application is forwarded to subcode official(s) for review.
  10. If application and/or plans meet code, subcode official(s) approve plans and submit for processing.
  11. Application is prepared for permit and forwards to Construction Official for final review.
  12. Construction Official reviews and signs permit.
  13. Applicant is advised that permit is approved with the amount due.
  14. Applicant summits check for permit.
  15. Technical assistant issues permit by entering check into computer system.
  16. Applicant calls for inspections.
  17. Inspection is scheduled.
  18. Inspector performs inspections.
  19. Inspector logs result of inspection into computer system.
  20. If inspection fails, applicant will call to reschedule inspections.
  21. If applicant makes changes to plans during construction, applicant submits change (field revision).
  22. Field change submission is reviewed for completeness, is inputted into computer, and forward to appropriate subcode official(s) for review.
  23. Subcode official reviews field change for code compliance, if field change does not meet code, applicant is advised in writing of code violations.
  24. If field change is approved, applicant is advised of approval.
  25. If inspection passes, inspector generates a report on inspections and forwards to technical assistant.
  26. Applicant prepares and submits application for certificate of occupancy.
  27. Application is reviewed for completeness.
  28. If incomplete, applicant is advised of deficiencies.
  29. If complete Certificate of Occupancy/Approval is prepared and forwarded to Construction Official for final approval.
  30. Construction Official reviews and approves Certificate.
  31. Applicant is advised that the Certificate of Occupancy/Approval has been issued.
  32. Application and/or plans is prepared for appropriate storage.
